225 Bulletin Board Winners: Gordon Gives and Tan Cares Celebrate Louisiana’s Teachers
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, Louisiana! As we celebrate this special week, we’re thrilled to announce our first 225 Bulletin Board winners, David Aguillard and Sammetria Martin. Our community members nominated these individuals for their outstanding service and dedication to Louisiana’s youth.
Meet the Winners
David Aguillard is a music teacher at St George Catholic School. He received nearly 40 heartfelt nominations – each recognizing his passion, kindness and the profound impact he’s had on his students.
“In the short time Mr. Aguillard has been at St George, he has endeared himself to the students, gained their respect and attention and amazed us all with the talent he brings forth from each child.”
“Teaching music is not just a profession for him; it is his heartfelt passion, evident in his teaching style and the genuine connection he shares with his students.”
Sammetria Martin teaches fifth-grade English language arts and social studies at Bains Elementary School.
“There are those who become teachers and those who are born to teach and pursue their calling. Sam is a natural-born teacher who answered the call.”
“She holds high expectations for every student and doesn’t accept less than their best.”
“Sam works diligently with colleagues, parents and her learners to ensure that she capitalizes on the students’ levels of knowledge to get them to mastery of grade-level content.”
