Sonny Lopez

Baton Rouge native, Sonny Lopez, is an Associate Attorney with Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, where he specializes in personal injury and premise liability matters. Lopez received his B.A. in Economics from Louisiana State University, his M.B.A. at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center. Having previously served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Shreveport and Assistant District Attorney for the Parish of Caddo, Lopez has cultivated relationships with attorneys across all legal specializations in the Shreveport-Bossier area. 

While working with Legal Aid of North Louisiana, Lopez partnered with the New Orleans-based Justice and Accountability Center of Louisiana to provide free criminal-record expungement services for Shreveport residents. In Sonny’s words, “Helping citizens of our state restore their status in society offers them the opportunity to move forward.” 

Lopez is an active member of the Shreveport Bar Association, American Bar Association, Shreveport City Chamber of Commerce and the Krewe of Justinian. Lopez is licensed to practice law in all Louisiana state courts and federal law in the Western District of Louisiana.

When not serving his clients, Sonny and his fiancée, Aura Lynn, enjoy supporting the LSU Tigers and taking their dog Winston on walks.
